Early Childhood Lower School Science Teacher

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Early Childhood Lower School, the Early Childhood Lower School Science Teacher collaborates with classroom and grade level colleagues, specialist teachers, and administration to plan, create, and implement science curriculum for children in grades K-4. This position requires experience working with and teaching science curriculum in an elementary setting, strong classroom management skills, comfort using classroom technology, and a commitment to promoting a diverse community. The Science Teacher is responsible for ongoing assessment and communication with parents and the Head of Early Childhood Lower School about children’s progress. All Early Childhood Lower School teachers are expected to be active community members, sharing supervisory duties and general support and care of the school community.

Responsibilities

• Teach Science classes to all Grades K-4.
• Support the academic, social, and emotional development of all students.
• Collaborate with colleagues to plan, create, and implement curriculum.
• Communicate effectively with families regarding classroom life and child development.
• Align curriculum and activities to the Next Generation Science Standards.
• Conduct ongoing student assessment.
• Share supervisory duties and general support and care of the school community.
• Perform routine tasks and daily maintenance of the classroom.
• Serve as an active, collaborative community member partnering with teachers, families, and administration.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in the subject or related field required; Master’s Degree preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in an office environment, including prolonged periods of sitting and standing.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to stand, bend, twist, and reach to access file cabinets, bookshelves, and navigate office and workstation spaces.
• Ability to ambulate through a classroom setting, including walking up stairs.

Pay

Salary range: $72,675 - $97,200. This range represents the expected annual salary for this position. Ultimately, pay will consider your education level, experience, and other job-related factors.
