Enhances the operational efficiency of Imaging Services by directly assisting imaging technologists and performing a variety of tasks to enhance the flow of patients, supplies, and information within the Imaging department.
Responsibilities
- Technical Assistance
- Assists technologists during examinations, including lifting, holding, and positioning patients.
- Prepares rooms with correct equipment and supplies for scheduled exams.
- Reviews schedules to identify and resolve conflicts or potential risks in advance.
- Assists in room turnover by changing linens, cleaning surfaces, restocking supplies, and ensuring readiness for subsequent exams.
- Patient Services
- Instructs and assists patients with activities needed to prepare for imaging procedures.
- Escorts outpatients to dressing rooms or exam areas.
- Transports inpatients to and from the department using appropriate means.
- Assists patients with completing forms or verbally screens them.
- Provides instruction or assistance during or after imaging procedures.
- Communication/Department Coordination
- Communicates effectively with technologists, patients, and others inside and outside the department.
- Gathers and communicates information about patient preparation, transport needs, and special services or equipment required.
- Provides information to nursing units regarding patient preparation or resource availability.
- Assists clinicians in obtaining records, study reports, or films and ensures timely delivery to exam rooms.
- Assists receptionists with scheduling, greeting, and checking in/out patients as needed.
- Safety
- Maintains a clean, safe working environment by inventorying and ordering supplies to maintain stock levels.
- Transports or arranges transport of supplies and equipment between units or departments.
- Inspects equipment and arranges repairs, monitors costs, and assesses needs for replacement.
- Compliance
- Maintains strict confidentiality of patient protected health information (PHI).
- Performs duties in compliance with department standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Assists in maintaining regulatory compliance.
- Completes continuing education requirements to meet departmental and facility needs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education (GED).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledge and ability to use proper body mechanics.
- Strong communication skills (reading, writing, and speaking) with patients, family members, and staff.
- Ability to maintain composure during challenging interpersonal interactions.
- Ability to process requests quickly, accurately, and consistently with general supervision.
- Customer service skills and professional demeanor.
- Ability to lift and position patients safely using best practices.
- Ability to walk or stand for long periods.
- Ability to work cooperatively and flexibly with others.
- Experience answering telephones and establishing/maintaining filing systems.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
Schedule
- Part-time, 20 hours per week.
- Shift: Day/Evening, 4 days per week (Monday - Friday).
- Weekend requirements: Every other weekend.
Pay
Pay range is $37.08 to $51.91 per hour. The compensation range may vary based on geographic location, candidate experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.
