Imaging Specialist - M-F - 7:00A - 3:30P

Duties & Responsibilities

• Verify receipt of all inpatient and outpatient discharged records utilizing reconciliation measures and following up on missing records to ensure they are received in a timely manner.
• Show strong attention to detail when prepping paper charts for scanning, confirming the patient name, medical record number, and account number are on every page.
• Initiate initiative to repair forms as needed, such as tearing, wrinkling, folding, and dog-earing pages.
• Ensure the integrity of the legal medical record by removing all staples and paper clips, identifying and separating multi-part forms before scanning the original document.
• Copy all damaged documents so that they can be fed through the scanner without difficulty.
• Scan all paper documents within each medical record is critical.
• Responsible for troubleshooting repairs and routine maintenance of the scanner, including replacing and ordering parts, taking appropriate action when the scanner is not working properly, and cleaning the scanner with appropriate cleaning solution and materials as needed.
• Maintain daily scanning logs and weekly reports of activity for data collection.
• Train new staff and promote teamwork while providing assistance to customers.
• Serve as a resource for other members of the organization in regards to policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least 2 years' experience in a medical record department is required.
• Previous medical record experience is required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate well at all levels of the organization, strong problem-solving and creative skills, and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses are required.
• A high level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-oriented are required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• A gracious and welcoming personality for customer service interaction is required.
