Responsibilities
- Operates, maintains and troubleshoots the whole slide scanning machinery.
- Loads, scans, and conducts quality control checks on user-prepared slides.
- Communicates with service users regarding the status of their scans, sets up accounts, and explains the slide drop-off and pick-up process.
- Runs and teaches the use of image viewing and processing software, including OlyVIA, Case Viewer, and QuPath.
- Assists the Imaging Research Analyst II with operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting other core microscopes.
- Aids in teaching users ethical image presentation and data gathering methods.
- Maintains records of usage and publications.
- Assists commercial vendors with demonstrations of equipment and software.
- Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.
- Performs experiments under the direction of the principal investigator.
Qualifications
- Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
- Experience with processing, imaging, and analyzing fluorescently labeled samples, preferably with commercial microscopes and open-source analysis software like ImageJ/Fiji, cellpose, and QuPath.
- Experience with fluorescence microscopy, including sample preparation, confocal imaging, and live sample imaging.
