Imaging Services Clerk

Temporary full-time position assisting the Radiologic Technologist and Radiology Manager with administrative and patient-support tasks to ensure efficient and safe operation of the Radiology Department.

Responsibilities

• Manages incoming department calls, ensuring messages are relayed and assistance is provided.
• Performs film processing and duplication, including handling traditional film and fulfilling requests for duplicate imaging studies on digital media (e.g., CDs), under the supervision of the Lead Imaging Clerk.
• Responsible for the daily cleaning of digital detectors and all departmental equipment, maintaining fully stocked imaging rooms, and aiding in supply requisition when needed.
• Receives, unpacks, and stocks supplies in designated areas, assisting with inventory management.
• Completes daily checks on refrigeration units and defibrillators within the department.
• Assists with maintaining departmental records, including organizing X-ray reports, appointment schedules, and operational logs.
• Aids in setting up exam rooms for procedures and helps prepare patients for their studies, including understanding specific clothing requirements for ordered exams and courteously instructing and assisting patients with changing when necessary.
• Informs patients and families of potential delays and provides general non-clinical information regarding their visit.
• Verifies patient identification using facility protocols (e.g., checking armbands, confirming name and date of birth).
• Assists with placing orders for outpatient exams received from external providers.
• Demonstrates a basic knowledge of radiology exams and their common indications to ensure order appropriateness.
• Contributes to a safe work environment by identifying and reporting defective equipment and aiding in its removal.
• Works effectively both independently and as part of a dynamic team.
• Facilitates patient transport to and from the department, serves as a point of contact for the public, and supports patient requests across Radiology and other hospital areas.
• Provides support for other hospital departments, including the ER, Acute Care, and Skilled Nursing Facilities, within the scope of care during staffing needs or emergency situations.
• Performs additional related tasks as assigned.
• Deals tactfully with personnel, patients, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the public.

Qualifications

• High School graduate.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Previous experience as a Ward Clerk, CNA, NA, or EMT preferred.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Proficient in fundamental computer operations and competent in common Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) for efficient task completion.
• Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems, and ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software (e.g., RIS, PACS).
• Additional languages preferred.

Pay

$19.28 - $26.91 per hour
