Responsibilities
- Informs physicians of scheduling conflicts and additional availability to expedite patient appointments.
- Provides leadership over the intake team responsible for scheduling, verification of benefits, pre-authorization, and pre-certification of imaging exams.
- Escalates operational issues to management promptly and works with offices on process issues.
- Supervises intake team members, offering guidance on training and performance issues, and serves as the knowledge leader for imaging-specific terminology and processes.
- Manages the scheduling of specialized procedures, including MRI/CT general anesthesia, MRI/CT IV sedations, pre-surgical stealth exams, Gamma Knife, UFE’s, Cardiac CT Angiography, and Interventional Radiology consults.
- Assesses the need for general anesthesia for adult and pediatric MRI patients and ensures timely follow-up and preparation for their appointments.
- Serves as a back-up scheduler during peak volume times, creating patient accounts, scheduling appointments, and pre-registering patients.
- Maintains close working relationships with referring physicians' offices, addressing their needs to retain and obtain new business.
- Maintains skill level and knowledge of imaging trends through reading, training sessions, and study materials, and disseminates information to the intake team.
- Delivers excellent customer service, managing calls and issues promptly and efficiently, and identifies opportunities for improvement and expansion of physician relationships.
- Resolves issues escalated from other team members and ensures smooth operation of the department.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills [Required]
- Advanced computer skills (MS Windows / MS Office, etc.) [Required]
- Understanding of health insurance authorization processes [Required]
- Familiarity with radiologic procedures, terminology & modality requirements [Required]
- Scheduling experience [Required]
- Healthcare financial services experience [Required]
Qualifications
- Associate degree [Preferred]
- Field of study in business or medical related field
Pay
$16.63 - $26.60 per hour
