Responsibilities
- Schedules staff, plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures, and ensures efficient work flow.
- Maintains quality and on-time delivery requirements, addresses production challenges, and communicates issues to relevant managers.
- Manages workflow with the production department, ensuring employees understand their responsibilities and delegated tasks.
- Partners with the Manager to manage schedules and backlogs, and assists in selection and performance management of employees.
- Communicates with the Manager regarding schedules and backlogs, and recommends equipment upgrades, staffing adjustments, improvements in procedures, and process modifications.
- Maintains timekeeping and attendance records for their groups using UKG.
- Provides technical guidance to team members and consults with other resources when needed.
- Monitors employee productivity and provides constructive feedback and coaching.
- Standardizes procedures to improve efficiency.
- Maintains compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous improvement objectives, and safety rules.
- Evaluates employee performance and is responsible for first line employee relations and issue resolution within their departments.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in welding or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a steel fabrication environment.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with steel fabrication-welding.
- Certification or Associate’s degree in welding.
- Knowledge of welding procedures, operation, and set-up of all equipment, reading and interpreting blueprints, and creating jigs and fixtures.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and 6S principles.
- Computer skills, supervisory skills, ability to deal with conflicts and employee issues in a professional manner, good verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, team-oriented and collaborative, self-motivated and detail-oriented, problem-solving and analytical skills.
- LOTO certification required.
- Forklift operation certification required.
- Crane operation certification required.
