About the Competition
Share your best images and videos showcasing the power of innovation in the current mining landscape! All winning images & videos will be displayed in an online gallery with credit. Submissions may also appear in future issues of Mining Engineering and on the SME websites and social media to promote future events.
Theme
Mining for the Future: Innovation in Action. Continuing the momentum generated from last year's theme, we invite you to illustrate the innovations that are reshaping the industry, improving safety, and reducing environmental impact. This contest not only aims to celebrate ingenuity but also to inspire dialogue on the future of mining, emphasizing the importance of responsible resource extraction in a rapidly changing world. Contestants are encouraged to highlight cutting-edge technologies, sustainable practices, and the transformative impact of innovation on mining operations.
Rules and Release Forms
- Restricted AI generated images, composite images or heavily edited images will be removed from the contest.
- Certify all content in video submissions is original, not AI-generated, and belongs to the entrant, or is under creative commons licensing; including any audio.
- You will need a photographic release form filled out by any person in your photographs/videos or by a property owner. Download and retain for your records:

In certain instances, a gift card may be awarded to honorable mention winners outside the U.S. In that case, SME will request follow up details regarding location to ensure the gift card can be redeemed in the respective winner's country.
