IEI Lab Technician Sr
About the role
The Industrial Electrical Infrastructure (IEI) Lab Technician Senior leads testing across specialized product lines, partnering closely with engineers and lab leadership to deliver high-impact results. This role takes ownership of projects, executes UL testing based on engineering requests, and serves as a go-to technical expert for resolving challenging issues.
Responsibilities
- Design fixtures to support standard and specialized testing.
- Mentor and guide lab technicians, track tasks and reinforce industry standards and best practices.
- Develop and document lab test methods to ensure consistency and quality.
- Enhance automated data collection systems, integrating measurement tools with lab equipment to streamline reporting.
- Define test requirements, determine methods, and coordinate setups, modifications, and fabrications for successful execution.
- Execute tests independently, analyze results, and deliver clear, data-driven reports while contributing to technical reviews.
- Maintain equipment and calibration schedules, perform or schedule routine maintenance and repairs, and facilitate calibrations.
- Participate in the technical portion of the UL audit, perform testing and other activities to maintain our UL testing designation.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma required; college degree or technical certificate preferred.
- Experience: 5-7 years working in a lab performing UL testing, mechanical, UV, and electrical testing.
- Knowledge of tensile/compression testing, accelerated weathering, wireLab Expertise: Ability to follow test procedures, document tasks, audit data, and maintain equipment.
- Understanding of calibration procedures, industry standards (UL, ASTM, ISO), and safety protocols.
- Strong mechanical background preferred.
- Knowledge of American Wire Gauge (AWG) preferred.
- Proficiency in Excel and other equipment software a plus.

Pay
The expected base pay range for this role is $30 - $35 an hour. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
