Icelandic Interpreter

About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Bilingual Icelandic-English Phone Interpreter to work remotely from your home. This is an independent contractor position and not eligible for employee benefits.

Responsibilities

• Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally.
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to established protocols.
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation and enunciation.
• Maintain a professional demeanor throughout interpreting sessions.
• Stay calm during interpreting sessions, especially in emergency situations.
• Ensure punctuality and availability during work hours.
• Follow client instructions and comply with protocol.
• Understand and adhere to industry-specific terminologies and procedures.
• Show cultural sensitivity and work in a diverse environment.
• Handle emotionally and/or stressful calls with professionalism.

Requirements

• Fluency in Icelandic and English with cultural competency.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
• Ability to remain detached and neutral during sensitive calls.
• Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred.
• Able to adapt to LLS technology enhancements.
• At least 18 years old.
• Licensed to work in the United States.
• Ability to read and write Icelandic and English.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Work authorization that does not require visa sponsorship.
• Access to a quiet space with a dedicated personal device for business purposes.
• Fast internet connection with minimum download/upload speeds and low ping/jitter values.
• Sufficient manual dexterity to operate a keyboard and mouse.
• Ability to lift up to 26 lbs.
• Exposure to moderate noise levels.

Pay

The pay rate is $0.75 - $0.90 per minute.

Schedule

This is a remote position where the Interpreter works from their home office.
