About the role
The Ice Technician Manager oversees the installation and maintenance of ice at The Sanford Center, ensuring the facility is ready for all practices, games, and other ice events. This role requires a strong background in ice floor operations and maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Oversee installation of ice, including freezing, painting, and building the ice sheet.
- Prepare ice for all practices, games, and other ice events.
- Repair and build ice, focusing on areas around hockey goals and other ice loss points.
- Maintain glass and dasher walls, monitor temperature and humidity levels, and prepare ice for events requiring a regular floor surface.
- Operate and control ice-making equipment via computers, and assist in maintaining the facility's ice plant.
- Train and supervise a staff of Zamboni drivers, and maintain ice equipment, including Zambonis, edgers, and ice melt pits.
- Work closely with the Operations Manager and Facility Maintenance Manager to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 2 years of experience in ice floor and operations.
- Knowledge of ice installation, preparation, and maintenance techniques.
- Understanding of operational procedures, facility capabilities, and industry-specific terminology.
- Ability to follow safety protocols and adhere to risk management and emergency procedures.
Skills & Abilities
- Read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Demonstrate knowledge in repairing and building ice, and treating water and hydraulic equipment.
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of event-related services and technical requirements for the facility.
- Follow safety precautions and adhere to all relevant regulations.
