About the role

Eagle Pool and Ice Rink is seeking enthusiastic youth and adult ice skate instructors for the 2026–2027 winter season. Instructors will teach skating fundamentals using the Learn to Skate USA curriculum, providing a safe, fun, and supportive environment for participants.

Location: Eagle Pool and Ice Rink (Eagle, CO). Part-time, seasonal position from September through April.

Responsibilities

• Instruct and supervise participants in Learn to Skate and Learn to Play Hockey programs, ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment.
• Teach progressive skills fundamental to the sport of ice skating.
• Promote an environment consistent with program philosophies and goals.
• Ensure the safe use and security of the facility; report vandalism, theft, or suspicious behavior.
• Maintain accurate records, forms, and documentation as required.
• Respond promptly to accidents and incidents following established procedures.
• Assist with setup and breakdown of equipment and facility spaces for programs and events.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper care of all facilities and equipment.
• Communicate clearly with participants, parents, and staff regarding programs and schedules.
• Act as a Mandatory Reporter by recognizing and reporting suspected child abuse or neglect.
• Report equipment or ice condition issues to the supervisor immediately.
• Provide the public with information about facility operations and recreation programs.
• Maintain general knowledge of Mountain Recreation’s offerings and policies.
• Monitor patron safety and assist during emergencies; administer first aid when necessary.
• Notify the supervisor of hazards or safety concerns affecting staff or patrons.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support facility operations and program success.

Requirements

• Must be 15 years of age or older.
• High school graduate or currently attending high school.
• One year of previous work-related experience with ice hockey/ice skate instructional programs, or any satisfactory combination of experience and training.
• Knowledge of USA Figure Skating or USA Hockey Programs preferred.
• Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred.
• Must obtain a valid First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days of hire, if not already certified.

Work is primarily performed indoors in an ice arena with regular exposure to cold temperatures and varying noise levels. The position requires prolonged periods of ice skating, standing, balancing, bending, reaching, and demonstrating skating skills. Consistent mental and visual attention is required while instructing and monitoring participants. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, holidays, and multi-day trips is required.

Pay

$25.00 per class. Eligible for a $1/hour incentive for Spanish/English bilingual staff who pass the language competency test.
