Skating Instructor

About the role

The Skating Instructor is responsible for instructing specialty skating in Learn to Skate classes. The position involves keeping accurate attendance records, developing lesson plans, evaluating and assessing skill levels and progress of all participants, and working within a safe class environment.

Responsibilities

• Instruct specialty skating in Learn to Skate classes
• Keep accurate attendance records

• May require shifts ranging from morning to evening hours

Requirements

• Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent
• One (1) year previous experience providing ice skate instruction
• Current membership in the PSA and the USFS and/or the ISI
• Must have passed the USFS 2nd and/or Juvenile Freestyle tests; or the equivalent ISU test, or the ISI Figure 3 and/or Freestyle 5 or USFS Bronze Dance test or Juvenile Pair test
• Current CPR/AED & First Aid certification or the ability to obtain such certifications within sixty (60) days of employment
• Concussion recognition training is required prior to employment and must be renewed annually

Qualifications

• Learn to Skate Instructor: Must have knowledge of the equipment, facilities, operations and techniques used to teach ice skating lessons. Must have knowledge of USFS Moves in the Field, Freestyle, Ice Dance, and Pairs guidelines. Must have the ability to communicate, both written and oral, positively and effectively with patrons and class participants.
• Specialty Skating Instructor: Must have the ability to communicate, both written and oral, positively and effectively with patrons and class participants. Must have the ability to work with employees and the public and exercise responsible judgment as forth in the by-laws of the PSA. Must have the ability to provide a safe class environment for all students.

Skills

About Us
