Required Qualifications
- Relevant degree in English, communications, journalism, or related field, or related experience in lieu of degree
- Demonstrated experience with reporting, writing, and editing communications for numerous audiences through various media
- Ability to work with a variety of individuals, as well as cross-functional teams, including faculty, students, and partners inside and outside of the university
- Well-developed communication, writing, and grammar skills
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, or related field
- Prior experience writing about topics related to the arts, sciences, and technology
- Experience with photo and video capture in support of storytelling
- Experience with social media management and tracking metrics
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
About the Role
The Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology is seeking a creative, dynamic, self-directed, and inspiring storyteller to elevate the research and impact of the affiliated faculty, staff, and students working throughout the institute, as well as to illustrate the impact of the Institute’s educational and outreach programs.
Pay and Benefits
This is a full-time, on-site position at the Blacksburg, VA campus and may require occasional evening and weekend hours in support of planned events. Pay Band 4, Overtime Status: Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime). Appointment Type: Restricted. Salary Information: $50,000 - $60,000. Hours per week: 40.
