IBM MDM Architect

Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned IBM MDM Architect to lead the architecture, design, and strategic direction of Master Data Management solutions for large-scale healthcare and enterprise environments. This role goes beyond hands-on engineering — the Architect will own the end-to-end MDM blueprint, guide delivery teams, engage directly with client stakeholders, and ensure that MDM platforms are scalable, governed, and AI-ready. The ideal candidate brings 10–14 years of IT experience with at least 6–8 years in IBM MDM architecture and solution design.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the overall MDM architecture strategy, including hub design, match/merge configurations, data stewardship workflows, and survivorship rules
• Architect IBM MDM solutions (Standard Edition and/or Advanced Edition) for complex, multi-domain healthcare environments — including patient identity, provider data, and payer data domains
• Lead technical discovery and solution design workshops with client business and IT stakeholders
• Evaluate existing MDM landscapes — including legacy IBM InfoSphere/Initiate environments — and develop modernization and cloud migration roadmaps
• Design integrations between MDM platforms and downstream systems (EHR, CRM, data warehouses, analytics platforms) using APIs, messaging frameworks, and ETL/ELT pipelines
• Define data governance frameworks including data quality rules, stewardship workflows, golden record policies, and lineage documentation
• Provide architectural oversight and technical leadership to MDM engineering teams throughout delivery
• Contribute to pre-sales activities including RFP responses, solution proposals, effort estimation, and client presentations
• Assess cloud-readiness of MDM workloads and architect migration paths to Azure or AWS, including containerized MDM deployments (AKS, EKS)
• Stay current with MDM market trends including AI-driven data quality, cloud-native MDM platforms, and healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR)

Required Qualifications

• 10–14 years of overall IT experience with at least 6–8 years focused on IBM MDM architecture and implementation
• Deep expertise in IBM MDM Standard Edition and/or Advanced Edition — hub design, party model, match/merge tuning, workflow configuration
• Proven experience with IBM InfoSphere MDM and/or IBM Initiate (patient identity / EMPI) in healthcare settings
• Strong database architecture skills across MS SQL, Oracle, and/or DB2 — schema design, performance tuning, stored procedures
• Proficiency in Core Java and Python; ability to review and guide engineering-level code
• Demonstrated experience designing MDM integrations with REST/SOAP APIs, messaging platforms (MQ, Kafka), and ETL tools
• Solid understanding of data governance principles — data quality, stewardship, lineage, golden record management
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred, AWS acceptable) — architecture of cloud-hosted or hybrid MDM environments
• Strong client-facing skills — ability to lead architecture discussions, present solution options, and build stakeholder confidence
• Familiarity with healthcare data standards: HL7, FHIR, IHE PIX/PDQ, HIPAA compliance requirements

Preferred / Good To Have Experience

• Architecting MDM solutions on Azure (Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL MI, Azure Kubernetes Service)
• Exposure to AI/ML-driven data quality and entity resolution tools
• Background in healthcare MDM specifically — patient identity matching, EMPI design, provider data management
• Experience with modern cloud-native or SaaS MDM platforms (Informatica, Reltio, Profisee) as comparative knowledge
• IBM MDM or related data management certifications
• Pre-sales and consulting experience in a services or delivery partner organization
