I&T Project Engineer

About the role

Our team, the Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) team at Lockheed Martin, is dedicated to engineering, developing, and integrating new capabilities for the Missile Defense System that protects the United States and its allies. While we are part of a large organization, we operate within smaller, agile teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Our responsibilities include Sensor/Weapon Integration, Algorithm Development, User Interface Development, Automated Testing, Cyber Security, and enhancing critical missile defense technologies.

As leaders of the C2BMC team, Lockheed Martin partners with industry leaders to develop and field the backbone of America’s missile defense. Our national team supports the design, development, testing, integration, and fielding of hardware and software elements essential for the effective operation of the Missile Defense System (MDS). You will have opportunities to interface directly with key customers, including the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).

This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a U.S. Citizen for consideration.

Responsibilities

The Project Engineer will work with I&T Leadership to manage, coordinate, and oversee the cross Agile Release Train. In this role, the selected candidate will:

• Support the planning and execution of technical scope, schedule, and cost inputs for changes, ECPs, and other customer engineering estimate requests.
• Support development of I&T IMS Objective evidence, the collection of IMS status accounting, and cross spiral de-confliction, cross-functional area coordination, and schedule/resource issue resolution.
• Facilitate the tactical mechanics and execution of our monthly Earned Value Management (EVM) rhythm, including:
  • Working heavily within the program's EVM tools (Excel analyses spreadsheets, inputs to PM Compass, Open Plan input spreadsheets, RASCAL, and CAP sheets).
  • Performing weekly/monthly analyses of EVM data from Program Finance reports (e.g., weekly actuals, hours reports, teammate reports, Eaglespeed material data).
  • Providing summary-level information/conclusions from this analysis to their assigned ART (key drivers, anomalies, concerns, etc.) and elevating concerns to other impacted CAMs.
• Coordinate planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility.
• Plan and formulate engineering programs; review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
• Evaluate and approve design changes, specification, and drawing releases.
• Coordinate activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.

Requirements

• Must have a final secret clearance.
• Proven experience with standard EVM practices and procedures, tools (such as PM Compass, OpenPlan, and Microsoft Project), schedule creation/management, rolling waves, and EVM cost baselining.
• Must be a recent graduate of a CAM/EVM training course and completed OpenPlan, PM Compass, or other EVM tool training within the last 2 years (or must complete within 6 months from employment start date).
• Strong project management, program management, and/or technical lead experience.
• Demonstrated abilities highlighting acceptance of responsibilities, attention to detail, and meeting deadlines.

Desired Skills

• Desire to enhance project management skills including communication, the ability to deal with unforeseen challenges, and building strong relationships.
• Experience or familiarity with software development and/or Agile Methodologies.
• Strong problem-solving, root cause, corrective action, and closure skills.
• Ability to lead discussions and determine resolutions to problems.
• Experience identifying IMS forecast and baseline changes via schedule change requests and "what if" schedules.
• Recent experience with DCMA Audits and Baseline Reviews, preferably as the CAM, WPM, or EV Lead answering questions.
• Proficiency in AI prompting as it applies to this position.

Pay

Full-Time Salary Range: $85,300.00 - $158,300.00. The salary range is a general guideline; Lockheed Martin considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and market/work location when extending an offer.
