About the role
The I&E Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and electrical systems in oil and gas facilities. This role ensures safe and efficient operations by supporting the reliability of critical equipment, including control systems, field instrumentation, and electrical infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and troubleshoot transmitters, valves, switches, sensors
- Calibrate and test safety systems, including ESDs and fire/gas detection systems
- Troubleshoot and repair PLCs, RTUs, motor control centers (MCCs), VFDs, and field instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters)
- Knowledge and ability to safely work on control circuits in enclosures with other AC/DC circuits
- Able to coordinate, communicate and work with employees from other contract companies, crafts, and/or other departments to meet a common goal
- This is an extremely "hands-on" position requiring outdoor field work that also requires being part of a rotation with others to support the field on an after-hours, on-call basis
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in instrumentation, electrical technology, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial I&E maintenance
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation, and control systems
