I/E Technician
About the role
The Instrumentation-Electrical (I&E) Technician at AdvanSix provides critical support to the company's operations by diagnosing and repairing instrument and electrical systems. This role requires a strong background in industrial electrical/electronic technology, with experience in maintaining and troubleshooting PLCs, MCCs, motors, and control circuits.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot AC and DC Electronics
- Apply Electrical Codes and Standards
- Read/Interpret Electrical, Electronic, Hydraulic, Pneumatic, and Instrumentation Drawings, Schematics, and Technical Manuals
- Install, Troubleshoot, Maintain and Repair PLC and/or DCS Hardware, Software and Controls
- Diagnose and repair AC & DC Motors and Control Circuits
- Maintain 480/240 Volt 3 phase MCC and Power Distribution Systems
- Replace Electrical Control Devices (Limit, Proximity and Photo Switches, Pneumatic and Hydraulic Valves, etc.)
- Repair Instrumentation and Control Devices (Pressure, Flow, Level Temperature, etc.)
- Perform Standard electrical installations including bend conduit and pull wire
- Perform Preventive and Predictive maintenance
- Move and set up equipment as needed
- Wire equipment and electrical drops within a high voltage area
- Install and repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic industrial equipment
- Operate aerial work platforms
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in industrial electrical/electronic technology, industrial maintenance or similar certification
- Five years industrial experience Instrumentation-Electrical Maintenance experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of PLCs and CNCs
- Demonstrated knowledge of 480 Volt MCC and Power Distribution Systems
- Basic programming knowledge with the ability to understand code and troubleshooting desired
- Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics desired
- Mechanical background to include troubleshooting skills desired
- Able to read, write, speak and comprehend the English required
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a diverse set of cross functional groups
- Proven organizational skills and ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks
- Proficient computer skills are required to effectively use requisite software applications
Qualifications
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs. individually and up to 100 lbs. with assistance
- Frequent reaching, twisting, walking, stretching, bending, kneeling, climbing and stooping movements
- Work in non-climate-controlled environment and around heated equipment
- Wear and work-in required personal protective equipment
- Participation in the Plant Emergency Response Team is a condition of employment
Skills
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of electrical codes and standards
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Experience with PLCs and DCS
- Understanding of 480 Volt MCC and Power Distribution Systems
- Basic programming knowledge
- Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics
- Good mechanical aptitude

Pay
The hourly rate for this position is $35.00 to $45.00. We offer a range of market-competitive total rewards that include periodic pay rate adjustments based on market competitiveness.
