About the role

The Senior Interior Designer will be responsible for:

  • Expertise in automotive interior design
  • Significant experience in automotive design field or concept/production car projects
  • Proficiency in digital modeling and VR verification
  • Ability to lead design programs from start to finish, including solo trips to Korea for model builds
  • Mentoring less experienced designers

Responsibilities

  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Operate the interior design team in absence of Head of Department
  • Create designs using digital software like Blender or Alias
  • Understand and respond to engineering requirements
  • Develop design proposals for concept and production car programs
  • Research and analyze trends in packaging, materials, and design
  • Present findings to management using PowerPoint
  • Discuss design criteria with management, engineering, marketing, and design team
  • Develop design packages using digital tools like Alias/Blender/CAS
  • Oversee model development by clay modelers, fabricators, and vendors
  • Consult with engineering and manufacturing to meet styling and manufacturing requirements
  • Create publication images for press releases and design brochures
  • Support vendors producing concept vehicles for auto shows
  • Benchmark competitor vehicles to guide design direction
  • Travel up to 20% of time domestically and internationally

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Transportation Design
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in the OEM automotive industry
  • Proficiency in Alias, Photoshop, Illustrator, Blender, VRED, Sub-D, AI software, MS Office, clay modeling
  • Proven experience in concept and/or production cars

Qualifications

  • BS, BFA, MS, or MFA in Transportation Design

Skills

  • Proficiency in digital design tools
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently
