Hyperbaric Technologist (LPN)
About the role
Prepares, educates, and orients patients about Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. This includes lifting or transferring patients per local policy, preparing them for treatment administration, and answering their questions.
Administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Provider, monitoring and controlling hyperbaric chamber equipment and patient responses during the session to ensure safety and effective use.
Makes appropriate data entries for daily hyperbaric treatments and wound clinic visits, maintaining complete and accurate patient records, including photo uploading.
Operates and maintains the hyperbaric chamber and other hyperbaric support oxygen systems as required. Participates in safety program activities, such as assisting with safety drills.
Performs other duties as required, attends hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services, and demonstrates a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care.
Requirements
- Licensed Practical Nurse (minimum required education)
- Two (2) or more years’ experience in healthcare preferred
- Prior experience in wound or critical care preferred
- Certified Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR Certification (must be maintained throughout employment)
- Current CHT (Certified Hyperbaric Technologist) certification, or eligibility to sit for the exam (CHT required within 12 months of hire)
- Wound care certification preferred (or eligible to sit for exam)
