About the role
The Respiratory Nurse is responsible for providing clinical direction and in-services regarding patient care and other respiratory related issues to the facility working with the Respiratory Therapy Director.
Responsibilities
- Initiates and leads team conferences in development of individualized nursing care plans.
- Affirms and documents the resident's condition and nursing needs.
- Provides respiratory related services for established times or services within the Respiratory Care Practitioner scope of services.
- Accurately and promptly implements physicians' orders.
- Schedules and directs the nursing staff to extent permitted by state practice act.
- Communicates with facility staff regarding relevant clinical and operational issues regarding the program and patient care issues.
- Affirms for patient’s respiratory needs. Assesses oxygen saturation and use of pulse ox. Works with ventilator patients and resolves routine problems.
- Notifies supervisor of any facility concerns or needs.
- Completes TARs at the end of each month checking for accurate information.
- Assists facility in regulatory issues, ensures that respiratory equipment and supplies are stored in appropriate storage area, and appropriate signs and documentation are provided within the facility.
- Takes care of routine mail, phone calls and pages, as necessary. Completes necessary filing and faxing.
- Completes other tasks as assigned.
- Records all pertinent information on respiratory care records and patient charts.
Requirements
- Graduate of accredited LPN School of Nursing.
- Valid LPN license in the state employed.
- Valid CPR certification.
- One year of nursing experience preferred.

Pay
- LPN Starting Wages: $39.40-$51.39 per hour.
- Wage Calculation is based on experience, shift, a $3.40/hr Michigan Direct Care Incentive, and a RN $8/hr weekend warrior program.
