Responsibilities
- Complete all work assigned in compliance with Peak Utilities Services Group and subsidiaries procedures and customer requirements.
- Utilize company-provided resources productively and protect assets from damage and theft.
- Ensure personal safety, the safety of other employees, customers, and the general public during work activities.
- Communicate with the job site foreman or bore lead at the completion of assigned work.
- Complete work orders and dailies accurately and submit paperwork to supervisors in a timely manner.
- Advise the Operations Supervisor of any field conditions that may impact the company’s ability to perform or complete work on time.
- Train and direct the duties of the pothole operator during hydro excavation.
- Perform daily and weekly truck inspections, including DOT fuel logs, and report any needed repairs.
- Ensure the truck is fully equipped with tools, mirrors, tape measures, paint, core bits, core drill, backfill material, and pothole plates, and that equipment operates properly.
- Clean, check fluid levels, and conduct visual inspections of vehicles/equipment for safety and performance; perform pre-trip, post-trip inspections, and required maintenance, including winterizing equipment.
- Utilize defensive driving practices and operate the truck in compliance with company, state, and federal safety regulations.
- Follow company and DOT reporting procedures, maintain paperwork including DVIR and driver’s logbook.
- Ensure the truck has current licenses, tags, permits, and proof of insurance.
Requirements
- One (1+) plus years of demonstrated potholing/hydro excavating experience with strong knowledge of underground utilities.
- Two (2+) plus years of demonstrated experience in dry utilities.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class A or B, with airbrake endorsement and tanker endorsement).
- Must pass Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, a DOT-regulated physical, and a pre-employment drug screen.
Skills
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse climatic conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs. multiple times during a work shift.
- Ability to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, and perform tasks requiring walking, stooping, and kneeling.
- Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- English proficiency sufficient to keep records, place orders, and prepare simple narrative reports.
- Willingness and ability to learn additional skills.
Pay
$30.00 - $36.00 per hour, depending on experience.
