Hybrid media and populist currents in Ireland’s 2016 General Election

About the role

DCU Institute of Future Media, Democracy and Society is seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Researcher or Research Fellow to work on the Provenance project, which is focused on providing verification assistance for new content.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on digital verification, disinformation, and content provenance
• Engage with stakeholders including journalists, fact-checkers, and platform representatives
• Contribute to the development of verification tools and methodologies
• Publish research findings in academic journals and present at conferences
• Collaborate with project partners and contribute to project deliverables

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant discipline such as Communication Studies, Media Studies, Political Science, Computer Science, or a related field (for Postdoctoral Researcher level)
• Significant research experience and publication record for Research Fellow level
• Knowledge of disinformation, media literacy, or digital verification

Skills

• Strong research design and methodological skills, including qualitative and/or quantitative methods
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Project management and stakeholder engagement abilities
