About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join the DCU Institute of Future Media, Democracy and Society (FuJo) and work on the Provenance project. The successful candidate will conduct research on providing verification assistance for new content, contributing to the Institute's broader research agenda on media, democracy, and digital technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research on content verification and provenance
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of research methodologies and tools
  • Analyse and interpret research data, producing high-quality academic outputs
  • Engage with project partners and stakeholders
  • Present research findings at conferences and workshops
  • Contribute to the preparation of research proposals and reports
  • Participate in the Institute's research activities and contribute to its vibrant research culture

Requirements

  • PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g., Media Studies, Communication, Computer Science, Data Science, Political Science, or related field)
  • Demonstrated research experience in areas related to digital media, information verification, or provenance
  • Strong analytical and methodological skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative research team
  • Proven track record of research publications

Qualifications

  • Experience with quantitative and/or qualitative research methods
  • Knowledge of digital media ecosystems and online information environments
  • Familiarity with issues related to disinformation, misinformation, and media trust
  • Strong organisational and project management skills
