Primary Duties And Responsibilities

  • Develops detailed quantity takeoffs, pricing, and cost analyses for labor, materials, equipment, contractors, and general conditions.
  • Reviews drawings, specifications, and scopes of work to identify risks, assumptions, and potential cost impacts.
  • Evaluates contractor and vendor bids to ensure pricing accuracy, scope alignment, and value.
  • Prepares and presents estimates, budgets, and cost updates to internal stakeholders and leadership as needed.
  • Affords assistance with value engineering, cost saving alternatives, and budget optimization to support project financial goals.
  • Supports feasibility studies, preliminary budgets, and historical cost tracking to improve estimating accuracy over time.

Education And Experience

  • A high school degree is required.
  • An industry-related college degree is preferred.
  • Two years of estimating responsibility are required for this position.

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional standing, walking, or light lifting of plans may be required.
  • The office is setup as an open collaborative space.
  • The role involves extended sitting and regular keyboard, mouse, and screen time.
  • Estimators regularly collaborate with project managers, designers, vendors, and other team members, both in person and virtually.
  • Work typically follows normal business hours, with extra time as needed to meet bid deadlines.
  • Limited travel to job sites or meetings may be required.

Financial Responsibility

  • Responsible for preparing accurate and complete cost estimates that directly impact project budgets, profitability, and overall financial performance.
  • Reviews drawings, specifications, and scopes of work to identify financial risks, assumptions, and potential cost or schedule impacts.

Confidentiality

  • Maintains strict confidentiality of all project location, estimating, pricing, and financial information.
  • Protects sensitive bid data, contractor pricing, and vendor proposals, ensuring information is shared only with authorized parties.
  • Fulfills company policies related to data security, document control, and confidentiality throughout the bid process.
