HVAC Truck Based Mechanic Apprentice (union)

Responsibilities

• Provide our customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service related items.
• Act as a trusted advisor to customers, providing solutions and outcomes at the time of service.
• Gain HVAC knowledge and learn firsthand from industry‑leading professionals; receive factory certification through the Service Technical Academy (STA).
• Be equipped with tools and a vehicle to perform the job at the highest standard.
• Apprentices will be trained and will perform on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites.
• Participate in certified training through the Service Technical Academy that builds skill sets for continued recognition, monetary rewards and advancement.
• Through coaching and mentorship, develop skills to troubleshoot and resolve both technical issues and customer needs.
• Keep JCI, contractors, and the customer advised of job progress and issues as needed.
• Meet attendance requirements for required Union training for the first year.
• Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facilities run efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
• Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

Requirements

• Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL‑CIO.
• 1+ years of industry experience or experience servicing mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
• Generally required knowledge includes mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques.
• Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent Johnson Controls to customers and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner.
• Leadership skills to support the activities of Mechanics working on non‑complex, non‑critical mechanical HVAC equipment on a job site.
• Self‑starter with ability to eventually work independently.
• Prioritize safety in all forms.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Preferred 1‑2 years of trade school or college in a technical emphasis.
• This is a Bargaining Unit Position.

Pay

Pay Range: $18‑$20 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
