About the role
Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking skilled HVAC Technicians to support the growth of their HVAC business in North America. The position offers opportunities to work on cutting-edge facilities, chillers, and commercial products.
Responsibilities
- Provide service and maintenance for air cooled and/or water-cooled chillers, industrial chillers, AHU’s, or large roof-top ducted units.
- Escalate technical issues to Product Technical Support PTS teams and assist in resolving critical issues.
- Offer solutions and recommendations to enhance facility efficiency and address service-related items.
- Prepare and present quotes for recommended solutions and upgrades.
Requirements
- Minimum of 12 years of practical experience on air cooled and/or water-cooled chillers, industrial chillers, AHU’s, or large roof-top ducted units.
- Must be a member of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
- Lead large complex repairs, jobs, or retrofits.
- Recognized as a leader and coach within the branch, providing on-the-job training and consulting services.
- Able to repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, absorption chillers, screw chillers, and/or ammonia/hydrocarbon system components.
- Maintain ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training certification.
- Proficient in multiple OEM chiller panels and controllers, and able to troubleshoot industrial Allen Bradley control systems.
- Able to trouble shoot large tonnage chillers, VSD’s, and provide on-site training.
- Pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.
Qualifications
- Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and valid driver's license.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to represent the company to customers and other contacts.
- Excellent communication and writing skills to explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Skills
- Technical proficiency in HVAC systems, including chilled water loops, pumping, compressor enthalpy, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with mechanical shaft alignment, vibration equipment, and compressor driveline troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of multiple OEM chiller panels and controllers, and ability to work with industrial Allen Bradley control systems.
- Ability to manage workloads to meet professional standards and customer satisfaction.
Benefits
The position is a Bargaining Unit Position with a pay range of $41.45 hourly rate, determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) or rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
