HVAC Technician (San Fernando, CA)
Location: San Fernando, CA • 1st Shift – Mon to Fri 8:00am to 4:30 pm • Contract to Hire
About the role
Seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to deliver prompt, reliable, and high-quality maintenance and repair services across commercial properties in San Fernando, CA. This role involves traveling to various customer sites, performing routine preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC systems, and troubleshooting a range of mechanical, electrical, and system failures. The Technician will utilize expertise in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC trades to ensure optimal performance of equipment, comply with safety standards, and foster strong customer relationships.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive preventative maintenance on standard package and split-unit HVAC systems, including inspecting belts, pulleys, condensate lines, and safety controls.
- Diagnose and repair issues on HVAC units, boilers, and ductwork, ensuring compliance with EPA regulations for refrigerant handling.
- Perform minor plumbing repairs (e.g., unclogging drains, fixing leaks), minor electrical work (e.g., fixtures, switches), and basic carpentry (e.g., drywall repairs, painting).
- Use technology (tablet, smartphone) to document work orders, submit reports, and communicate effectively with clients and team members.
- Obtain necessary materials, provide accurate estimates for larger projects, and maintain a positive customer experience.
- Follow all safety protocols, complete required training, and attend weekly safety meetings.
- Assist with asset inspections and support emergency repairs as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or HVAC license preferred.
- At least 5 years of HVAC and general maintenance experience, including electrical, plumbing, and carpentry skills.
- Valid driver’s license and EPA Universal Refrigeration Certification required.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC systems and related mechanical equipment.
- Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.
- Proficiency with handheld devices, work order management, and basic MS Office tools.
Schedule
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
