About the role

The HVAC Technician III is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems, apparatus, and electrical components of machinery and equipment on-site by following electrical codes, manuals, schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications. This role involves hands-on assembly and disassembly of component parts and machinery in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications, all within the guidelines of Seneca Gaming Corporation’s policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, test, dismantle, and repair all types of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and related equipment, including refrigeration compressors, pumps, condensers, air handling units, cooling towers, and associated controls, wiring, and piping.
• Locate sources of trouble in HVAC equipment by testing and inspecting for mechanical or electrical failure.
• Dismantle, inspect, repair, replace, or adjust faulty parts, piping, and control wiring on HVAC equipment such as cooling towers, air handling units, heating and chilling coils, condensers, pumps, refrigeration compressors, filters, and controls.
• Reassemble, test, and adjust equipment to obtain proper operating characteristics.
• Clean, paint, and secure equipment for optimum operation.
• Perform all necessary mechanical repairs and tests on equipment being serviced, including filter changes on schedule or as required.
• Fabricate parts as required using machine and hand tools common to the trade.
• Interpret drawings, diagrams, specifications, and instructions covering scheduled and emergency repair, installation, and inspection work.
• Inspect and test all HVAC and related equipment to determine the extent of damage and nature of repairs required.
• Analyze drawings, wiring, and pneumatic schematics to determine material or replacement needs and assembly specifications.
• Plan details of working procedures and determine tools and materials required.
• Select logical approaches to troubleshooting and repair problems.
• Answer trouble calls while considering safety precautions and minimizing operational interference.
• Maintain performance and maintenance records of HVAC equipment.
• Utilize equipment and tools such as coil cleaning machines, tube punchers, chiller bundle jetters, torches, voltmeters, and pressure gauges for gases.
• Perform preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance on building equipment as required.
• Troubleshoot control issues and load programs.
• Perform duties related to Building Management control systems and computer-based inventory and repair parts ordering.
• Maintain a current understanding of information security policies, including the Seneca Gaming Corporation Acceptable Use Policy.
• Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons and communicate professionally at all times.
• Maintain a professional work environment with supervisors, managers, and staff.
• Adhere to attendance guidelines, regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
• Complete all required SGC training programs within nine months of employment.
• Attend necessary meetings.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must possess and retain an ARI Certification for HVAC Technician-Type: Universal.
• Ten years of previous hands-on HVAC experience.
• Knowledge and experience in commercial HVAC applications.
• Well-versed in the interpretation and implementation of the National Electrical Code, New York State Uniform Building and Fire Prevention Code, National Fire Prevention Association, and Occupational Safety and Health Association (a plus).
• Working knowledge of HVAC systems, including air-cooled units, air flow, controls, chillers, boilers, air filtration, dust collection, HEPA filtering systems, pipefitting, and sheet metal installation and repairs.
• In-depth experience in commercial/industrial electrical systems, including 480/208V 3-Ph systems, 3-Ph motor wiring, motor, and electrical control systems.
• Proficient in copper, PVC, and T&C piping, including sweating copper and using tools necessary for the field.
• Able to read, interpret, and implement architectural, engineering, and design drawings.
• Experience overseeing work performed by subcontractors to ensure compliance with contract specifications.
• Ability to organize job plans, prioritize work, and direct HVAC co-workers on joint projects while monitoring progress.
• Broad HVAC training, including the use of testing equipment, gauges, drawings, schematics, precision instruments, and tools of the field.
• Knowledge of blueprint reading, electrical theory, electronics, mathematics, mechanical drawing, electrical code requirements, safety, first aid practices, welding, fire alarm systems, and plumbing (a plus).
• Proven ability to act as a lead HVAC Technician and mentor others.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record acceptable to our liability insurance carrier.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud but may increase to loud inside and outside the casino.
• Must be able to work in an environment where smoking is permitted.
• Must be able to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the casino, including tight spaces and areas of considerable height (up to 90 feet above ground level).
• May stand for long periods and frequently work on ladders and scaffolds.
• Must perform heavy/strenuous manual work and be exposed to temperatures below 32°F and above 90°F.
• Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Good eye-hand coordination, excellent eyesight, and manual dexterity.

Pay

Starting rate: $32.00 per hour. Compensation is negotiable based on experience and education.
