Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, test, dismantle and repair all types of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and related equipment.
- Locate and diagnose mechanical or electrical failures in HVAC equipment.
- Disassemble, inspect, repair, replace, or adjust faulty parts, piping, and control wiring.
- Reassemble, test, and adjust HVAC equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Clean and secure equipment for optimal performance.
- Make necessary mechanical repairs and perform mechanical tests.
- Change filters according to schedule or as needed.
- Fabricate parts as required using machine and hand tools.
- Receive and interpret drawings, diagrams, specifications, and instructions.
- Inspect and test HVAC and related equipment to determine extent of damage and repair needs.
- Analyze drawings, wiring, and pneumatic schematics to determine material or replacement needs, and assembly specifications.
- Plan working procedures and determine tools and materials required.
- Perform troubleshooting and repair tasks based on a thorough understanding of mechanical and electrical principles.
- Maintain performance and maintenance records of HVAC equipment.
- Utilize test equipment including volt meters, die injectors, pressure gauges, and gases.
- Perform preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance on building equipment as needed.
- Diagnose and resolve control issues and load programs.
- Answer trouble calls and follow safety precautions.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- AIR Certification for HVAC Technician-Type: Universal.
- Seven (7) years of previous hands-on HVAC experience.
- Knowledge and experience in commercial HVAC applications.
- Comprehensive understanding of the National Electrical Code, New York State Uniform Building and Fire Prevention Code, NFPA, and OSHA.
- Thorough knowledge of HVAC principles, including air-cooled units, controls, chillers, boilers, air filtration, refrigeration, pumps, cooling towers, pipefitting, and sheet metal installation and repairs.
- In-depth experience in commercial/industrial systems, 480/208V 3-Ph. Systems, 3 Ph. Motor wiring, motor and electrical control systems, and conduit runs.
- Proficiency in copper, PVC, and T&C piping.
- Ability to read, interpret, and implement architectural, engineering, and design drawings.
- Knowledge of electrical theory, electronics, mathematics, mechanical drawing, electrical code requirements, and safety practices.
- Knowledge of welding, fire alarm systems, HVAC, and plumbing.
- Experience with tools commonly used in HVAC projects, such as screwdrivers, pliers, knives, hacksaws, wrenches, torches, water tube punchers, coil cleaners, boiler tube cleaners, and ladders.
- Previous customer service experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
Qualifications
- Must be able to work in environments with loud noise and temperatures ranging from below 32°F to above 90°F.
- Must be physically capable of standing, walking, moving through tight spaces, and working at heights of up to 90 feet above ground level.
- Must be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced, casino environment.
- Must have good eye-hand coordination, excellent eyesight, manual dexterity, and good color sense.
Benefits
Salary starting rate: $27.20 per hour. Compensation is negotiable based on experience and education. Positions may have varying minimum qualifications. In the absence of fully qualified candidates, some requirements may be waived.
