About the role
This position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and inspection of various types of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in a dynamic airport environment. The role ensures the efficient operation of HVAC systems to maintain optimal climate conditions and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on HVAC systems, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose HVAC system malfunctions and determine appropriate repair methods.
- Inspect, monitor, repair, maintain, and operate mechanical systems, motors, compressors, pumps, fans, ducts, pipes, thermostats, and switches.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on required systems; replace filters when necessary.
- Read complex blueprints, piping, sketches, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections; enter all information into CMMS systems.
- Comply with company safety program and trainings.
- Work productively and cohesively in a diverse and multicultural environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
Requirements
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
- HVAC Universal Certification required.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Minimum 5 years of HVAC maintenance and repair experience required; commercial or industrial experience preferred.
- Ability to understand blueprints and electrical schematics.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions.
- Ability to be badged to work in secure areas of an airport.
- Ability to work Day or Night Shift including weekends and holidays.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to climb or balance and work in small spaces.
- Ladder work required.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in outside weather conditions on an airport ramp around aircraft and in confined areas of baggage conveyor systems.
- Specific vision abilities required include good close proximity vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Good hand/eye coordination is required.
Work Environment
- Work environment is similar to airport operations with vehicular traffic.
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, outside weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, cold, and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- Employees will work on an airport ramp around aircraft and heavy equipment.
