HVAC TECHNICIAN (FULL TIME)

About the role
The HVAC Maintenance Technician performs a variety of skilled maintenance duties related to facilities engineering and maintenance. The role involves working under a Supervisor, Foreman, and/or Master Mechanic, analyzing and correcting complex problems, and ensuring non-license workers perform tasks correctly. The incumbent will work independently within their trade, supported by a state-issued license.
Responsibilities
- Performs preventative maintenance and non-complex reactive repairs.
- Updates work statuses and documents tasks in the CMMS using a mobile device.
- Determines manpower, material needs, and deadlines for jobs and projects.
- Cleans, lubricates, services, repairs, and diagnoses malfunctions in HVAC, electrical, and mechanical building systems, including sterilizers, food service equipment, sprinkler systems, fire alarms, and specialty equipment.
- Assists in decision-making for repairs and reports major problems to supervisors.
- Constructs, installs, maintains, and repairs electrical, mechanical, and facility systems using power and hand tools.
- Reviews outside vendor projects and creates punch lists.
- Analyzes and corrects complex building system and electro-mechanical problems.
- Supports project management activities as needed.
- Responds to facility emergencies and makes necessary repairs.
- Maintains logs, performs rounds, completes P.M. work orders, tests, and inspections.
- Recommends modifications or improvements to preventive maintenance systems.
- Maintains shops and mechanical areas in a clean and safe condition.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 5 years’ experience as a Maintenance Technician in an institutional setting in an engineering or maintenance discipline.
- One of the following: Journeyman Electrical License, Registered ACR Technician with EPA 608 certification, or Journeyman Plumber License.
- Experience working with blueprints and schematics.
- Valid driver’s license.
- General understanding of electro-mechanical equipment.
- Ability to use hand-operated construction equipment.
- Ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds and perform strenuous labor for extended periods, including kneeling, bending, and stooping.
Working Conditions
- Exposure to high heat, noise, dust, dirt, and areas requiring infection control.
- Must meet deadlines for daily work completion.
- Ability to work all hours, including weekends and nights, to maintain facility safety.
Pay
$30.00 per hour to $35.00 per hour
Schedule
Full-time schedules with multiple shifts available. More details provided during the interview.
