About the role
We are looking for a Facilities HVAC Technician to perform routine operations, maintenance, and repairs on physical plant systems and components. The role involves maintaining clean work and shop areas to ensure facilities run smoothly, following inventory control and part procurement procedures, and maintaining a safe work environment while wearing appropriate PPE. The HVAC Technician is responsible for providing courteous, accurate, and timely service to customers.
Responsibilities
- Perform technical maintenance duties, including troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining HVAC equipment and systems
- Conduct daily critical equipment checks
- Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks on all mechanical equipment
- Monitor room temperatures using a Building Automation System (BAS)
- Perform minor building, equipment, and infrastructure repairs
- Ensure service requests are addressed completely and in a timely manner
- Work safely to prevent injury to self and others
- Perform routine maintenance on company vehicles when assigned
- Pick up and deliver materials as needed
- Participate in an on-call schedule
- Provide cross-trade assistance when needed
Requirements
- 3-5 years of HVACR service experience (ideal)
- EPA Certified
- Thorough knowledge of the refrigerant cycle
- Understanding of thermodynamic principles and Ohm’s law/electrical theory
- Knowledge of duct sizing and airflow
- High school graduate or GED with a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Familiarity with power tools and safety requirements
- Basic math and computer skills
- Task-oriented, self-driven, with a strong team attitude
- Strong communication, people, and customer service skills
Qualifications
- Prepared for moderate to heavy physical effort, including exposure to heat, cold, rain, snow, and hazardous equipment
- Able to work on rooftops and other high places
- Ability to set up and climb ladders safely with tools and equipment
- Able to walk, stand, and stoop for extended periods (over 80% of the time)
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
