About the role
The HVAC Technician position is responsible for maintaining and repairing heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems within the school district. Reporting to the HVAC Foreman, this role works 248 days per year.
Responsibilities
- Minimum of two years field experience in heating and air-conditioning.
- Resolve problems with HVAC systems independently.
- Perform preventive maintenance and repair tasks.
- Respond to service calls in priority order and make repairs promptly.
- Provide status reports to the foreman and determine necessary actions.
- Follow up on equipment that cannot be repaired during the initial visit.
- Troubleshoot HVAC systems.
- Keep accurate records and enter work orders into an electronic system.
- Maintain equipment, tools, and vehicles assigned.
- Keep records of equipment and warranty parts.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by supervisor or as required by the school system.
Requirements
- Valid state driver license.
- EPA Certification for the use and handling of refrigerants.
- Knowledge of air-conditioning tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of electricity.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
- Good interpersonal skills with colleagues and others.

Physical Demands
- Heavy lifting (minimum 50 lbs.).
- Frequent use of ladders.
