About the role
Austin Industrial provides premier self-perform maintenance, construction, and soft craft service to leading industrial companies across the U.S. This position is located in Franklin, VA.
Responsibilities
- Perform installs, repairs, and maintenance on equipment including: refrigeration, air conditioning, electric motors, heating units, heat pumps, hermetic compressors, commercial furnaces, boilers, burners, intake and exhaust fans, economizers, humidifiers, capacity controls, semi-hermetic compressors, split systems, flame safeguard controls, air compressors, air driers, and packaged units.
- Diagnose, repair, and install plant mechanical systems in the pulp and paper manufacturing industry.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment like conveyors and presses.
- Read mechanical prints and diagrams (including HVAC systems).
- Manage and continuously evaluate maintenance program requirements and records.
- Maintain good customer and employee relations, and demonstrate leadership skills.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- EPA Section 608 Universal Technician Certification.
- 5+ years of supervisor experience.
- 5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- HVAC Certification required.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to operate power tools and heavy equipment.
- Legally able to work for ANY employer in the United States (no visa sponsorship available).

Physical, Mental & Environmental Requirements
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and use hands and fingers to perform assigned duties.
- May require lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds.
- May require working at elevations, on uneven surfaces, or in confined spaces.
- Must possess sufficient visual, hearing, communication, and motor skills to safely perform job responsibilities.
- Must be able to read, comprehend, and follow safety procedures, work instructions, and company policies.
- Must exercise sound judgment, solve problems, maintain attention to detail, manage stress, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
- Work may be performed in industrial and construction environments with exposure to weather conditions, temperature extremes, noise, dust, fumes, moving equipment, vibration, and other site-specific hazards.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and meet all customer, site, regulatory, medical, and fitness-for-duty requirements.
