About the Role

The HVAC Start Up Technician is responsible for diagnosing, starting up, and testing HVAC equipment on projects (split systems, mini-splits, package systems, and rooftop units) for Commercial Construction projects. This role requires commuting to both Milwaukee and Madison-based jobs, and you must be comfortable driving anywhere.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, start up, and test HVAC equipment on commercial construction projects (split systems, mini-splits, package systems, and rooftop units).
• Perform service repairs, register installations, and provide white-glove service in finished and occupied units/homes.
• Troubleshoot refrigerant issues and ensure code-compliant HVAC systems.
• Install ductwork, gas piping, condensate piping, and venting.
• Read and interpret blueprints and layouts from pre-designed or custom plans.
• Pre-plan and communicate material needs to ensure on-time delivery and availability.
• Train field crews in structural and technical aspects of the industry.
• Maintain strong knowledge of all job phases to ensure effective HVAC system installation in coordination with other trades.
• Support and enforce DJI Safety Culture by maintaining safe jobsite conditions and holding crews accountable to safety policies.
• Communicate outstanding startups and report status updates.
• Properly fill out startup forms and document startups.

Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 6+ years of HVAC Construction Experience or successful completion of the HVAC Apprenticeship
• EPA Certification

Pay

$40 - $46/hour
