About the role

We are seeking experienced HVAC Field Technicians with the ability to travel to customer sites to start up, commission, troubleshoot and repair the equipment we represent. This position requires the capability to work independently, and candidates should have strong diagnostic skills. Requires the ability to manage projects for start-up commissioning and coordination of personnel and services. This is a full-time opportunity for an energetic self-starter focused on supporting our Critical Systems Solutions division, specifically Vertiv equipment for data centers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects and processes while working independently and with limited supervision
  • Coach and review the work of lower-level professionals
  • Address difficult and complex challenges; provide solutions
  • Start-up, commission, and support BMS on equipment we represent
  • Perform factory start-up, commissioning, and warranty service on Data Center Vertiv equipment and systems
  • Conduct electrical and mechanical inspections on equipment to ensure peak performance
  • Interpret engineering drawings related to layout, location, and operation of systems
  • Represent the company positively to other trades, contractors, and owners
  • Suggest additional services beneficial to the customer
  • Work in a team-based environment to share information and workload while ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Submit required paperwork to Service Coordinator in a timely manner
  • Work safely daily and ensure all safety measures are followed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as required

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record
  • Vertiv training or certification
  • Current HVAC certification and OSHA 10 Training
  • 5+ years’ experience working as a Service Technician in a commercial environment
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software and handheld devices (e.g., Smartphone, iPad)
  • Electrical knowledge and EPA Certification (preferred)
  • HVAC Journeyman or Master license (preferred)
  • Ability to work in diverse conditions including mechanical equipment rooms, extreme weather, risk of electrical shock, and elevated heights
  • Ability to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly, and up to 75 pounds frequently
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and balance multiple duties

  • Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, graphs)
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Mental stamina for problem-solving and prioritizing multiple tasks

Work Environment

  • Ability to travel substantially within the operational region
  • Flexible schedule may be required
  • Willingness to work in adverse conditions, including noisy equipment rooms, extreme weather, and elevated heights
  • Regularly required to use hands, stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
