About the role

The Residential HVAC Service Technician diagnoses, repairs, and services residential heating and cooling systems while helping homeowners understand their options. The position involves responding to in‑home service calls, documenting work accurately, maintaining an organized service vehicle, and collaborating with dispatch and customer service to ensure a positive customer experience. Experienced technicians may also mentor apprentices.

Responsibilities

• Respond to in‑home service calls and diagnose system issues.
• Complete repairs on heating and cooling equipment.
• Troubleshoot system malfunctions and recommend solutions.
• Explain repair or replacement options clearly to homeowners.
• Document service work accurately.
• Maintain an organized service vehicle.
• Work closely with dispatch and customer service to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Mentor apprentices and help newer technicians strengthen technical and customer‑service skills (for experienced technicians).

Qualifications

• At least three years of HVAC field experience with a strong understanding of residential heating and cooling systems.
• Ability to diagnose equipment issues, perform system repairs, and explain solutions to homeowners.
• Knowledge of HVAC codes, best practices, and ability to read basic diagrams or blueprints.
• Interest in continuing education and working toward industry certifications such as NATE.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Organized, dependable, motivated to improve technical skills, and able to contribute to a team‑oriented environment.

Pay

Base pay ranges from $25.00 to $34.00 per hour, depending on experience. Total compensation potential is approximately $75,000 – $90,000 annually, including performance incentives and commissions.
