About the Role

The HVAC Service Technician tests and troubleshoots AC systems, ensuring compatibility and safety of electrical components using devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes.

Responsibilities

  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, modify, and repair heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems, fans, fan motors, and associated safety and protection devices to ensure peak efficiency and energy conservation.
  • Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, locate causes of breakdowns, and correct problems.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  • Inspect electrical systems, identify hazards or defects, and adjust or repair to ensure compliance with codes; advise management of hazardous equipment.
  • Plan, monitor, install, and adjust heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment using energy management systems.
  • Perform installation of mechanical systems, including piping and modifications to existing cooling systems.
  • Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on packaged units, split coil systems, air compressors, pumps, air handlers, and air-cooled condensers.
  • Install mechanical systems, including piping and modifications to existing cooling systems.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Degree or Trades School certification in a related field.
  • Three to five years of related experience.
  • EPA 608 Certified (required).

Skills

  • Ability to troubleshoot single and three-phase installations.
  • Proficiency with tablets, laptops, or desktop devices.
  • Clean driving record (no more than 3 points in 12 months).
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include weekends.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to solve basic math problems.
  • Strong background in HVAC and refrigeration equipment, including hands-on experience in operating and troubleshooting systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of standing, crawling, and climbing.
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds at times.
