ManagementFull-time
About the role
Diagnose, repair, and maintain residential and light commercial HVAC equipment for Buffington customers across Southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas. You'll work out of a fully stocked truck, with support from dispatch and senior techs, representing a family-owned shop that's been here since 1951.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, refrigerant, and control issues on furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioners, ductless mini-splits, and light commercial rooftop equipment.
- Perform repairs, refrigerant recovery and charging, component replacement, and preventative maintenance on residential and light commercial systems.
- Read schematics, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer service documentation to isolate problems and follow approved repair procedures.
- Communicate findings clearly to homeowners and property managers — what the problem is, what you fixed, and what to watch for next.
- Present repair, replacement, indoor air quality, and maintenance plan options when they actually fit the equipment and the customer's goals.
- Complete service tickets, time entries, parts usage, and photos accurately from the field.
- Keep your service truck clean, organized, and stocked with the parts and consumables you reach for most.
- Participate in the after-hours on-call rotation during peak season so emergency customers reach a real technician.
- Follow safety standards every day — refrigerant handling, electrical safety, ladder use, lockout/tagout, PPE, and customer-home protection.
- Represent Buffington Brothers professionally at every appointment, on the truck, and on the phone.

- Tolerate working in extreme indoor and outdoor temperatures across heating and cooling seasons.
