About the Role
As an HVAC Service Technician at Baker Home Energy, you'll diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain residential heating and cooling systems while providing homeowners with honest recommendations and an outstanding customer experience. Responsibilities
- Respond to residential HVAC service calls and diagnose heating and cooling system issues.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain residential HVAC equipment according to manufacturer specifications and company quality standards.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by educating homeowners on system performance, repair options, maintenance recommendations, and pricing.
- Clearly communicate repair recommendations, obtain customer approval, document completed work, and collect payment when applicable.
- Perform preventative maintenance to maximize equipment performance and lifespan.
- Install or replace residential HVAC systems and components as needed.
- Perform refrigeration line set work, including brazing, flaring, swaging, and pressure testing using industry best practices.
- Ensure all repairs and installations meet applicable safety standards, manufacturer requirements, and local building codes.
- Maintain company vehicle, inventory, tools, materials, and equipment to ensure job readiness.
- Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades, system replacements, maintenance agreements, and financing options that benefit the customer.
- Prepare accurate job documentation, equipment lists, and scopes of work.
- Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and manufacturer training to continue developing your skills.

What Success Looks Like
- First 30 Days
- Complete onboarding, safety training, and ride-alongs.
- Become familiar with company procedures, service standards, software, and customer expectations.
- Begin performing service calls with guidance while maintaining excellent customer satisfaction.
- First 60 Days
- Independently diagnose and complete most residential HVAC service calls.
- Consistently document repairs accurately and communicate recommendations effectively.
- Demonstrate strong time management and efficient use of company resources.
- First 90 Days
- Successfully manage a full service schedule independently.
- Build trust with customers through quality workmanship and outstanding communication.
- Consistently meet company expectations for safety, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- 2+ years of residential HVAC service experience, including diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of residential heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as business needs require.
Preferred Qualifications
- EPA Certification.
- NATE Certification or other HVAC industry certifications.
- Experience installing and replacing residential HVAC equipment.
- Experience promoting maintenance agreements and system replacement options.
