About the Role
As an HVAC Service Foreman, you will troubleshoot, maintain, and repair a variety of HVAC and refrigeration systems in commercial and industrial settings. You will prioritize daily tasks, ensure projects are completed efficiently, and develop and train apprentices. The role involves coordinating job materials, labor, and equipment while maintaining clear communication with customers. You will adhere to company safety standards, keep job sites and company vans organized, and ensure high-quality work.
Responsibilities
- Communicate project status via phone and email
- Develop and train apprentices
- Prioritize and complete daily responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, organized job site and well-inventied company van
- Exhibit excellent customer relations skills
- Coordinate job materials, labor, and equipment
- Collaborate with other departments as part of a team
- Adhere to company safety standards and procedures
- Perform proper maintenance and repairs per manufacturer specifications
- Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety
- Use and recognize limitations of rigging equipment (chains, slings, hardware, etc.)
- Identify common load configurations and positioning
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience troubleshooting HVAC/R systems of all types and sizes
- Strong leadership and managerial skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manuals
- Attention to detail for accurate service reports and maintenance checklists
- Proficiency in troubleshooting commercial/industrial equipment
- Understanding of the refrigeration cycle and proper charging of refrigeration systems
- Knowledge of hot water and steam boilers
- EPA 608 and CSD 1 certifications
- Experience with the following equipment/tools:
- Aerial-lift (Boom & Scissor)
- Forklift (up to 5,000 lbs)
- Telehandler (preferred)
- Chauffeur license/Med DOT Physical
- Trailer loading and securing of material
- Multimeter
- Rigging (Rigger 2 training preferred)
Physical Requirements
- Ascend/descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and operate scissor/boom lifts at height
- Work in permit and non-permit required confined spaces and near loud equipment
- Lift and carry or otherwise move up to 50 pounds regularly/occasionally
- Respond quickly to auditory alarms, visual signals, or other hazard communications
- Move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
- Work in cold/hot environments
- Traverse irregular and steep terrain
