HVAC Service Controls Technician

About the role

This field-based role blends HVAC and Controls knowledge. You will commission new systems, diagnose, and repair environmental-control systems, utilizing expertise in electronics, direct digital control, airflow, refrigeration theory, and control and mechanical techniques in diverse commercial settings.

You will serve as the direct customer contact, ensuring customer satisfaction by identifying, diagnosing, and repairing equipment and systems at customer locations. You will coordinate with team leaders and customers to understand requirements for on-site installation and repairs, forecast issues, gather materials, and synchronize on-site work.

Responsibilities

• Start and commission new HVAC and control systems.
• Diagnose and repair environmental-control systems in commercial settings.
• Serve as the primary customer contact for service and repair projects.
• Coordinate with team leaders and customers to plan and execute on-site work.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Trane products related to installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair of direct digital control systems.
• Enforce safety standards and maintain accountability for company-issued assets.
• Demonstrate flexibility to work overtime and weekends as required, including occasional overnight stays.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
• Technical School or formal training (preferred).
• 3-5 years of experience in HVAC/Controls, including programming experience.
• Niagara experience (a plus).
• Previous experience with Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems (preferred).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software and handheld devices (e.g., Smartphone, iPad).
• Valid driver’s license for at least 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations (e.g., DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving, or multiple preventable collisions in the last 3 years).
• EPA certification (preferred).

Pay

Hourly base pay range: $31.27 - $47.35. Compensation is tailored to factors such as seniority, merit, geographic location, education, experience, travel requirements, and union designation.
