About the role

HVAC & Refrigeration Mechanics are vital to the Utilities and Building Maintenance Departments on campus at UMass, Amherst.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, operate, repair and/or initiate repairs on building systems such as pneumatic/electric, electronic, electro-mechanical controls, refrigeration, air conditioning, equipment and related heating and ventilation (HVAC) systems, and their related controllers and controlled devices.
• Employ the use and need of specialized testing and monitoring, diagnostic equipment.
• Work synchronously with Control Technicians / trade personnel maintaining the building systems integrity.
• Exercise functional supervision of other employees performing related repair and maintenance activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
• Must be able to pass a background check.

Qualifications

• Experience in HVAC/R installation, maintenance, and repair.
• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Strong problem-solving skills.

Skills

• Proficiency in using HVAC/R diagnostic tools.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay

$40,000 - $50,000 annually based on experience.
