Responsibilities

The Service Tech 4 – HVAC performs maintenance, repair, and installation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This position is responsible for troubleshooting complex HVAC issues, guiding junior technicians, and ensuring systems run efficiently.

• Provides service to the customer base by repairing and overhauling equipment such as compressors, water pumps, air handlers, and electrical/mechanical control devices in a safe, efficient, and timely manner that exceeds customer expectations.
• Performs repair work on refrigeration, heating, and ventilation equipment, including air conditioning units, evaporative condensers, ice machine equipment, water pumps, gas furnaces, compressors, and electric motors.
• Conducts preventative maintenance activities by diagnosing equipment malfunctions and operating deficiencies to ensure quality performance.
• Processes job tickets and work orders to the necessary department in a timely manner.
• Provides training to new or less qualified technicians as needed.
• Maintains proper truck inventory and drives company vehicle safely.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, equivalent work experience, and trade or technical school classes.
• Must have passed Tech Skills level 4 with an 80% or better.
• Valid EPA certificate.
• 3-5 years’ experience in construction HVAC, refrigeration, or a related industry.
• Must have chiller experience.
• Experience in troubleshooting electrical control systems.
• Knowledge of hand and power tools, refrigeration equipment, and piping of refrigeration equipment.
• Knowledge of computer-controlled systems.
• Ability to read and understand refrigeration, electrical, and plumbing blueprints.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Ability to pump down all refrigeration systems and reclaim refrigerant from all types of systems.
• Good communication, presentation, and customer service skills.
• Ability to understand and follow all company policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws.
• Proficiency with typical business tools including email, Word, and Excel.

Work Environment: This job typically operates in convenience stores, grocery stores, food service, and/or construction environments with a need to work at heights from ladders and/or scissor lifts. Mechanical rooms may have elevated noise levels. The position regularly works near/with refrigeration/HVAC equipment that can expose workers to extreme cold from refrigerant and high heat from brazing operations. This role routinely works in outside conditions, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, and exposure to dust, requiring the use of correct PPE and safe work practices.

Physical Demands: This position is very active and requires excellent stamina to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. Employees are regularly required to:

• Walk and stand for long periods
• Hear, drive, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb
• Use hands and fingers
• Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds
