About the role

As a Pre-Commissioning Technician II, you will support the pre-commissioning department and more senior technicians in the startup and repair of systems while also working more independently. This role exposes you to basic system concepts, troubleshooting methodologies, and helps build higher-level technician skills such as creative thinking and time management.

Responsibilities

  • Startup: Start up less complex equipment; assist higher-level technicians with complex equipment and systems. Gather product information (model numbers, serial numbers, belt and filter sizes).
  • Diagnose and Repair: Assist senior technicians in troubleshooting problems and repairing systems.
  • Support for Operations: Assist with system flushing, TAB (Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing), setting PRVs (Pressure Reducing Valves), maintaining belts, and greasing bearings and motors before turnover.
  • Review of Submittal Documents: Verify that equipment on the job matches submittal documents (voltage, amps, horsepower, etc.).
  • After-Hours Work: Work overtime on occasion.

Requirements

  • 20 hours of continued education.
  • 2+ years of experience.
  • EPA 608 Certification.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • NFPA 70 certification.
  • Ability to develop the following skills through mentorship, continuing education, and hands-on activity:
    • Safety habits.
    • Copper tube brazing.
    • Soft skills.
    • Time management.
    • Troubleshooting system knowledge (hydronic systems, VRF systems, chiller operation).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with the industry and the company’s competitors.
  • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside the scope of work when necessary.

Travel Requirements

0-5% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.

Physical/Work Environment Requirements

  • Wear an NFPA 70-compliant uniform (1 set provided by the company and replaced annually).
  • Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and/or poles.
  • Climb stairs and move in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces.
  • Perform repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Operate machinery and/or power tools.
  • Work in outdoor elements such as precipitation, heat, cold, and/or wind.
  • Work in a noisy environment.
  • Perform light to heavy work, including adjusting and/or moving objects from 20-100 pounds.

Pay

USD $24.28 - USD $32.41 per hour.
