About the role
The HVAC & Plumbing Technician is responsible for performing quality assurance inspections, punch-out activities, troubleshooting, repairs, and corrective work on HVAC and plumbing systems in newly constructed homes. This position ensures all installations meet company standards, manufacturer specifications, applicable codes, and homeowner expectations prior to closing.
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed quality assurance inspections of HVAC and plumbing systems in newly constructed homes.
- Identify installation deficiencies, code violations, and workmanship issues.
- Complete punch-out work and corrective repairs to ensure homes meet company quality standards.
- Diagnose and repair HVAC systems, including refrigerant line sets, ductwork, thermostats, controls, condensate drains, and ventilation systems.
- Diagnose and repair plumbing systems, including water, drain, waste, vent, gas piping, and plumbing fixtures.
- Troubleshoot equipment performance issues and restore systems to proper operating condition.
- Perform warranty-related HVAC and plumbing repairs as assigned.
- Verify proper startup, operation, and performance of all HVAC and plumbing systems prior to homeowner occupancy.
- Cookordinate with subcontractors and field management when major corrective work is required.
- Maintain accurate inspection, punch-out, repair, and warranty documentation.
- Communicate recurring quality concerns and installation trends to management.
- Follow all company safety policies and maintain a safe work environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of residential HVAC and/or plumbing installation, service, maintenance, or quality assurance experience.
- Working knowledge of residential HVAC and plumbing systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and installation specifications.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with attention to detail and quality workmanship.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduation from a vocational school or completion of an HVAC or plumbing apprenticeship.
- EPA Section 608 Certification.
- Plumbing license or certification (where applicable).
- Experience performing final inspections, punch-out work, quality control, or warranty repairs in residential new construction.
- Experience using mobile inspection, punch-list, or construction management software.
- Ability to work effectively with construction teams, subcontractors, and homeowners.
