HVAC Mechanic

About the role
Our client is seeking a full-time HVAC Mechanic to support operations and mechanical maintenance services. This is a union position with benefits including vacation, sick leave, paid holidays, and a pension plan as per the collective bargaining agreement. Hourly pay increases are based on job classification, qualifications, and duties.
Responsibilities
- Perform operations, preventive, and corrective maintenance on boilers, chillers, hot water heating systems, domestic water plumbing systems, air handlers, VAV components, and other HVAC equipment and building systems.
- Maintain and operate large commercial heating and air conditioning equipment.
- Repair complex mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Pursue and obtain local/state journeyperson grade license (for Level I and II).
- Supervisory duties (for Level II).
Requirements
- Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience in building maintenance and operation.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Universal EPA or CFC certification (required).
- Massachusetts Refrigeration Technician License (required).
- Technical training in HVAC (highly desired).
- Must achieve NATE certification within 6 months of employment.
- GSA approval (required for all levels).
Qualifications by Level
- HVAC Level I – $40.78/hour
- One of the following certifications: NATE, HVAC Excellence, or UA Star.
- HVAC Level II – $44.86/hour
- One of the following certifications: NATE, HVAC Excellence, or UA Star.
- HVAC Level III – $47.93/hour
- HVAC local/state journeyperson grade license (for systems exceeding 10 tons).
- One of the following certifications: NATE, HVAC Excellence, or UA Star.
Pay
$40.00 - $47.00/hour, with specific rates based on job classification ($40.78 for Level I, $44.86 for Level II, $47.93 for Level III).
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
