About the role
The HVAC Mechanic position at PRIDE Industries involves performing a variety of technical tasks in the maintenance, repair, replacement, and installation of HVAC/R equipment, dining facility equipment, and related systems. This role requires a minimum of one year of work experience in HVAC/refrigeration equipment installation, repair, and maintenance, along with knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and structural layout.
Responsibilities
- Follows procedures, regulations, and guidelines while minimizing errors and safety risks.
- Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains various mechanical, HVAC and refrigerated equipment.
- Installs expansion and discharge valves in circuit, mounts compressor and condenser units, cuts and bends tubing, and joins tubing or pipes to various refrigerating units.
- Assesses drain problems and performs needed repairs, wraps pipes in insulation batting, and secures them in place.
- Replaces defective breaker, controls, thermostats, switches, fuses and electrical wiring to repair installed units.
- Connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connects control panels to power source.
- Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and resets controls and control panels, replaces defective controls, fuses and electrical wiring to repair installed units.
- Tests joints and connections for gas leaks, observes pressure and vacuum gauges, and adjusts controls to insure proper operation.
- Checks distribution systems for proper velocity, volume, temperature, pressure, etc., determines amount of airflow required to keep carbon dioxide at a safe level and ensures it is maintained.
- Maintains and records maintenance and operation logs, monitors and inspects heating and cooling systems to ensure continued proper operation, and performs preventative maintenance on heating and cooling systems.
- Investigates problems and performs repairs on various mechanical and electrical equipment for heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigerated systems.
- Responds to emergency calls after normal work hours, and frequently travels between facilities.
- Trains Maintenance Trades Helpers, General Maintenance Workers, and new HVAC Mechanics by providing instruction and reviewing completed projects.
- Works independently and as a team, manages and accurately tracks material resources and time, and adapts to changing work priorities.
- Maneuvers to, in, and around equipment, bends, kneels, stoops, reaches, climbs stepstools or ladders, lifts and moves heavy equipment up to 35 pounds, climbs ladders to gain access to rooftop equipment, monitors computer systems and control displays.
