About the Role
The Installation Technician reports to the Installation Manager and is responsible for performing a range of HVACR installation jobs for light commercial and residential customers. This role requires decisiveness, initiative, tact, judgment, integrity, dependability, and the ability to communicate in a technically credible manner. Job-related contact includes customers, other Cosby Heating & Cooling technicians, the Installation Manager, and the Estimator.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a member of ad hoc Installation Department teams to conduct HVACR installation jobs efficiently and timely.
- Perform routine HVACR installation activities without direct oversight or on-site assistance.
- Assist Senior Installation Technicians in training new employees on installation-related subjects, including callback prevention and installation protocols.
- Conduct point-of-work sales of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) services, unit components, unit replacements, add-on units, and referrals for the sales staff.
- Perform non-installation work in support of the IAQ and Service Departments, as assigned.
- Carry out related duties as directed by the Installation Manager.
Requirements
- High school graduate.
- One or more years of successful and full-time HVACR experience, either as a service or residential installation technician.
- Good oral and reading skills, including the ability to read and apply manufacturers' installation instructions and communicate clearly with customers and colleagues.
- Physical ability to perform duties under varying conditions, including extreme weather.
- Interest and initiative in maintaining HVACR skills through self-study, company training, manufacturers' workshops, and other professional development activities.
- Interest and initiative in developing point-of-service sales techniques, including sales leads and sales of unit replacements, add-on units, IAQ services, and service contracts.
- Current (state) operator's license and ability to operate all types of vehicles in the corporate fleet within 30 days of employment.
- Must be insurable by Cosby Heating & Cooling’s current insurance carrier.
- Ability to work efficiently under time pressures, non-standard schedules, extreme weather, varying customer needs, and backlog constraints.
